Cosmetics Law
The EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No. 1223/2009 defines European cosmetics legislation.
This regulation governs aspects such as labelling, ingredients, advertising and distribution of cosmetic products. With regard to the advertising of such products in particular, the Cosmetics Regulation is supplemented by Regulation (EU) No. 655/2013, which sets out common criteria for advertising claims in connection with cosmetic products.
Additional national regulations supplement the cosmetics legislation. This leads to a large number of information and labelling obligations that are often difficult to keep track of.
